Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

In a civil rights case in federal court isn't there a monetary amount given to the plaintiff after so many days and prior to settlement so he may live and continue to prepare for his case? What is that amount and how many days does the case need to be active in court ?

Not that I am aware of. I would think not. There is no guarantee that the case will settle. Additionally, if it does not settle and the Plaintiff loses then he or she would have received funds that he or she were not entitled to.
