Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Stolen truck
My new driver drove my 18 wheeler tractor/ trailer to Orlando, Fl, and abandoned there. His wife told me he left that in Fl and is not found anywhere.
I checked his apartment, his name is there, and the way his wife talks, tells me they are using the truck and do this sort of crimes regularly. For example, she asked for $1000 to get truck back.

I filed report with police, but would like to know why police can not go and ask the thief and/ or his wife? do i just wait? it was stolen in first week of March this year

Hello. In my opinion, the fact that your truck

was stolen and taken across state lines makes

it a federal crime (interstate theft). You should contact the FBI right away.
