Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Former employer refuses to pay for hours worked

I worked in a newly opened computer cafe for about 4 months before it went out of business. The owner was always late with checks and once I finally got one it would always bounce. However I gave him the benefit of the doubt and continued working because he said as soon as his other partners paid him he would pay me.This went on and on and now he owes me $1500.I have given him plenty of chances to pay me and everytime he has an excuse or says he's going to pay but never does. Now he's saying that should I take him to court it would be between me and his other partners because they owe him money too.I never even met these other people.I think it is his responsibility to pay me and then he can work on getting money he is owed.He also owes another former emp $2500 and more money to several other former employees. Please help.

Re: Former employer refuses to pay for hours worked

You can sue him and let him deal with the problems he has separately.
