Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Non Compete Agreement

I have got an offer from a new employer who is client to my current employer. I have signed an agreement (when I joined the company)which is ''Non Compete Agreement'' that says I should not join any of the clients. My current employeer threatens me I can not accept the offer from my new employer pointing out this agreement. My question is if I go ahead and join my new employer, will I be in trouble? If yes, what kind? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin

Re: Non Compete Agreement

I would have to see the non compete clause of your current contract, but it probably applies and you may be in trouble if your current employer sues for breach of contract.
