Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

I am a tenant that moved in May26 2006 with a one year lease. My residence here is going on 3 years. There are income guidelines and a certification I go thru to recertify for the next lease term. I want to know can they change my lease term which was from May to April. I thought my lease would still continue from May since that is originally when I moved in.

Depends on what your original lease said. Most of the time they become month to month at the expiration of the original term. I have seen a few which renew for an additional year at a time, but those are relatively unusual.
