Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Auto accident, other driver at fault, 1 year and $10k later...

I was rear-ended on I-88 at the York Rd. toll plaza I-PASS lane February of 2003. I visited the doctor the next day who diagnosed whiplash. It is now a year later and I have total expenses of $10,000. Doctor's prescribed medication and roughly 6 months of physical therapy spread out during the last year. I felt fine for a couple of weeks, and now am I am back to experiencing random bouts of neck pain. I am looking for a lawyer to represent me in this case to maximize the settlement. What sort of settlement should I expect, and what do I do if I need to take more medication or receive more physical therapy?
