Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Personal Injury

My husband is disabled and has not driven in eight years. He is now trying to obtain a driver's license and I do not think his eyesight is good enough for him to be behind the wheel of a car. I will now allow him to drive my car so he says he will rent a car and obtain their insurance. My question is: If he causes a serious accident that results in him being sued for damages, will I also be liable because we are married?

Re: Personal Injury

As long as you are not providing him with the car or paying for the rental, you will not be liable. However, you might want to consult with an attorney who concentrates in asset protection in order to protect your maritial assets.
