settlement for dog bit

my six year old daughter was bitten by a dog she received a 5" gash from the top of her head to the middle of her forehead, with misc. puncture wounds to the face, scarring is unknown at this time, my question is will the insurance company offer a settlement and what can we expect is a fair settlement, they have already notified us on sending them the medical bills. this was not are dog and did not happen on our property it happened at my sister-in-laws.

I can tell you the following: 1) the insurance company will probably offer a settlement; 2) the offer will likely be unfair; and 3) you owe it to yourself and your daughter to NOT consider settlement until after a sufficient period of time passes for her scarring to be totally healed and to not do anything in the meantime to jeapordize her claim (i.e. give statement to adjuster). For now, I believe you should take photos of daughter's scarring on regular basis and make sure she has proper medical attention.
