Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

What is the time limit to sue a corporation?

Last year, may of 2000, a local hospital made a very poor judgement call. They told a family that a family member was killed in a car accident. It was in fact a case of mistaken identity. My question is ''is there a time frame to sue and exactly what type of suit would it be?''

The sooner you discuss this with an attorney, the better. In Indiana, the general rule allows two years for filing a personal injury case. Other states allow only one year. And in some cases, even in Indiana, because of the nature of the parties or injuries involved, you have much less than two years, even less than a year. If this incident happened in Indiana, you may not have any kind of a case because Indiana has a "modified impact" rule for cases involving negligent infliction of emotional distress. Confer with a local attorney immediately.
