Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Burial/Cemetary Plots

My friend buried a twin baby at birth 7 mos. ago. The plot in the cemetary she buried her at was her mother's. The plot was next to her father at the mother's consent. For whatever reason now the mother has sent a letter to the company that is doing the stone saying that if they put the last name of the baby on the stone she will take legal action. (The last name of the baby is the father's who is hispanic.) My friend is beside herself. Can you give some advise?

Re: Burial/Cemetary Plots

Terribly sad. From the facts you present, I would say there would be no successful "legal action" the mother could take against the monument company. All they're doing is engraving a stone. The mother might be able to prohibit the installation of the stone if she does in fact own the plot. What's the matter with some people?
