Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

No Keys at closing

I recently closed on a condo. I was really dumb about it and forgot to get keys from the seller's agent and he said didn't demand a copy of purchase contract. It closed and the seller got paid but I still dont' have keys after a month and apparently there is someone living there who has a lease until Jan. What can I do?

Thanks

Re: No Keys at closing

Hello. That is simply outrageous. In my opinion

this borders on fraud. The seller's attorney and

the seller need to be contacted with a letter. You have a right to evict the occupant of your

condo. I suggests you take action now. I will

be happy to discuss this with you further. Clearly you have suffered damages as a result of

the seller's behavior, including denial of your right to enjoy and occupy your residence. You certainly should have received the keys at the closing and you should have had an opportunity to do a "walk-thru" inspection before the closing. I recently assisted a family who had

a similar problem.
