Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Car Accident

My parked car was recently totaled by a drunk driver. My car was a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix in very good condition. The other drivers insurance will only pay what the car is worth. This is a problem because it will not be enough to purchase a new car, and I can not afford to buy a car at this time. I use my car every day for work, and have the evidence to prove that. What can I do to have the insurance company get me enough money to purchase a reliable car to continue to do my job?

Re: Car Accident

First, why aren't you having your insurance company pay? Perhaps they will be a little more generous....ultimately, however, they are dad blamed insurance companies (they don't stay in business by paying out $$). You aren't going to get more than Bluebook or Kelly for your car. I would investigate what these websites tell you your car is worth so that you get enough. Hopefully, that will pay for a replacement vehicle. An option is to sue the other driver, and let a judge decide what the car is worth, but this hardly seems to be worth the gamble.
