Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Failure To Appear Warrant Driving on Revoked Cook COunty, il

Hello, in about 2003 I was driving on an expired restricted license (I was revoked) & got a ticket for driving on revoked. I missed my court date 2 months later, and I just have not taken care of this in all of these years. I want to know every single possible option that could or will happen when I go with possibly you or whomever is going to represent me. So, am I facing jail time regardless? Can money make this go away? How much SWAP would they give vs jail time? I have consulted and paid 2 different lawyers about this, and I just felt like they were making it seem like it was going to be no big deal but I just didn't trust them enough to want them to represent me. Any responses, with phone numbers or weblinks would be appreciated.

If, as you said, a warrant has issued, the case is still "alive". You are going to have to surrender, probably post some bond, and then proceed with the litigation. This will probably necessitate several court appearances. You can expect to pay a fine, etc. Professional fees would be in the $2K range. Call me if you like. Good luck!

Driving while revoked in Illinois is a big deal. You can go to jail for up to 364 days and/or be fined up to $2500. You need assistance in determining if there is a warrant and how much the bond is for the warrant. Given the amount of time that has passed it is unlikely that the warrant would be recalled and you will need to be able to post bond while working this matter out.
