Gift Deed

My father has an immovable property in Bihar (India). He wants to gift it in favour of my mother. Do he need to pay any stamp duty or anything else for this transaction?

though in case of gift the stamp duty is required to be paid.The percentage of stamp duty differs from state to state but in no case a person can make gift in favour of his own wife,it may be WILL etc. but can not be gift.

it depends wheather hindu law is applicable to u or muslim law is applicable, if hindu law is applicable than you will have to pay stamp duty.

you will be required to pay stamp duty as per value at ur place if u get it registered.

there are some ways to decrease the duty and that may be tried with the help of local persons.

I have gone your query. Yes you have to pay stamp duty on gifted property if you are going to register the above said property.
