Is 498a only for dowry demand cruelty or cruelty other than dowry demand also maintenable under 498a?

498-A is NOT confined to dowry demands; it includes any form of cruelty committed by the husband and/or his family. A complaint u/s 498-A may be lodged by the wife or any of her relatives. Allegations of 498-A may also give rise to offences under the D.V.A.
