Also if a divorce is filed after a 498a and the husband gets acquitted in 498a can he file for defamation for both cases separately? Does one have to pay any upfront amount for file damages of say 5 to 10 lacks? Which is more lethal a civil defamation calming damages or criminal defamation?

Re: Defamation and compensation

You will have to prove or submit evidence to prove defamation. It is not so easy.

The ultimate discretion is of the court to ascertain and give damages.

which is more lethal of course it depends on the extent of loss caused due to defamation.
