Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

Debt Settlement with Judgement on Credit Report

Hello. I am interested in working with an Agency to settle my outstanding unsecured debt. I was out of work for over a year and had to ignore my unsecured debt in order not to lose my home and cars, etc. Two items have been summoned into court for judgement. One of which has already been entered as a judgment on my credit report, even after the lawyer informed me it would not get to that point if I made a payment arrangement with him and stayed current on those payments. I have stayed current with him, but am falling behind with others because the attorney would not accept anything less than$400/month and this is really hurting me. The credit agencies are telling me that I may not be able to settle on that debt and lower it into a smaller monthly payment with them because it has made it that far. Is there anything I can do to have this debt considered as part of the settlement offer or is it too late?

Yes. And do save yourself a lot of trouble and money by filing bankruptcy.
