Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

Taxes

My father has several delinquent bills (Chase,Wells Fargo etc..)all which have been turned over to lawyers offices for collection. He received a letter from a law firm stating that his balance was zero, and a judgment was rendered against him and a ''lien'' was filed. My father receives a monthly social security check as well as a pension from the job he is now retired. My question is, can they garnish his wages or take away from his tax return? Is it too late to make payment arrangements?

Re: Taxes

If his income is Social Security, take a look at my article: http://haslerlaw.blogspot.com/2007/03/garnishing-social-security-benefits.html

It is conceivable they could attach his tax refund.

I have no idea what is meant by lien. You might want to check with Legal Services of Indiana in Evansville to see if your grandfather can use their services.
