Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Indiana

ebay sale

I sold a truck for a person on ebay. The buyer was unable to contact the seller for six months. The seller now says we're 'scammers' and never gave them the money. What they've basically stated is that I've defrauded the buyers (across state lines).

Is it illegal to falsely make such statements?

It does not sound like the broke any laws and is therefor not illegal. However, they may have slandered you and you may have a civil cause of action against them
