Wrongful death of single with no dependents

If a single person with no dependents and no children is dead as the result of negligence on the part of someone else, can that person be sued? Does the person suing have to prove that they have suffered a monetary loss due to the death?

Simple answer is yes. But would need more facts. Wrongful death law is very fact sensitive in this area.
