Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Kansas

adoption inheritance rights

I was adopted. Then my adoptive parents had 2 natural children. My adoptive parents became extremely abusive. My adoptive mother died, and my ''sisters'' immediately took my dad to a lawyer and had him sign a transfer on death deed on his farm, and all personal property 5 days after his wife died. Can an adopted person be disinherited by transfer on death deeds?

Re: adoption inheritance rights

An adopted person is treated the same as a natural born child, under Missouri law. So, your question is, "can a child be purposefully left out by a transfer on death deed"? The answer is "probably" But there are variables too numerous to explain here.

Good Luck
