Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

Emmancipation law Kentucky

What is the emmancipation age for the state of Kentucky? Just got custody of step son, who will be 17...would like to have child support re-evaluated but they are telling me it may take a year to do this since we live in IN and the court order & mother live in KY.

Re: Emmancipation law Kentucky

If you can afford an attorney, the simplest thing to do is file for the modification in Kentucky. Your attorney could handle it and you would not have to be present.

A child is emancipated in Kentucky at the age of 18 unless he or she is still in High School and then it can extend up until age 19.
