clock in and clock out

is my employer allowed to clock me out at close and still demand me to continue closing duties while off the clock?

No. You are entitled to be paid from the point that you are required to arrive at work to the point when you stop performing duties on behalf of the employer. If the employer is routinely engaging in the activity described with you and others, you may want to contact the Department of Labor or an attorney.
