Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Kentucky

Prorating

My landlord prorated the first month of my twelve month lease, which was July of 2001. He now asserts that I must pay for the full month of July 2002. Is this correct or is he trying to take advantage of me?

Re: Prorating

What does the lease provide? This is common practice because he may not be able to rent the premises for a partial month. Practically, he probably has a deposit from you and can apply it to the full month anyway to keep from returning it. You would have to bring suit to question it. How much is it worth to you in time and money. (of course depends upon amount). He may be wrong but how far do you want to go to prove it?
