Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

Past statute date-Any other way to sue?

In June of 2003, after moving to LA from WI, my ex-boyfriend beat me for 3 hours in front of OUR 5 yr old daughter. He plead guilty to felony battery, received a suspended 2yr prison sentene and is serving 2 yrs probation back in WI. I had stitches on my face, surgery on my nose and neck (from strangling). There are many other details. I have lost thousands of dollars in lost wages etc. After returning to work permanently in fall of 2004 I found out that the statute of limitations had expired. My questions are 1. Is there any exceptions to this statute? 2. Can I sue him in a different court (federally) or something for holding us hostage or the beating itself? 3. Is there any sort of compensation I can get for this? I continue in counseling for PTSD, have scars, still need a surgery to cosmetically repair my nose. He was only required to pay $1,000 in restitution which is laughable. Is there ANY thing I can do?

Wisconsin law covers your right to any action against your boyfriend. Call the DA's office that prosecuted the case and see if there is a "victim's program" that assists with rehab, medical expenses and such things.
