Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

succession & inheritance

My husband passed away in May, he left no will, his wishes were for me to have ownership of all his possessions. What steps do I need to take so that I can have ownership? He does have a son from a previous marriage & I have 2 children also from a previous marriage. How does the inheritance law work in such manner?

Re: succession & inheritance

If he has no will and has a child then he has an heir, his son. Consult an attorney about what property is yours, what property you have a usufruct over, and what property should simply be given to your step-son.

Without a will his step-children have no rights to any of his property. They would have an interest in any of the community property when you die.
