Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maine

Death of in-law and creditors

My Mother-in-law passed away recently and left with some unpaid credit cards. She lived with us and owned no real esate or property other than the clothes on her back. Her only source of income was SSI checks as she was not in the workforce long enough to earn Social Security income. Are we libel for her debts at all?

Re: Death of in-law and creditors

No- you are not liable for any of her debts, unless of course they are also your debts due to co-signing.
