Drug paraphernalia charge

My daughter was issued a ticket for possesion of drug paraphernelia by university police. Should we get a lawyer, will this charge if plead guilty hamper her ability to become an RN?

It would be extremely unwise to plead guilty to this without exploring alternative options. It certainly would not be helpful to her projected occupation but it also could negatively affect many other occupations.

Your daughter very definitely needs an attorney. Depending upon how this offense is charged, and upon various other factors, a conviction could be extremely damaging to her future. If this is her first offense there is a very good possibility that she can avoid the conviction and go on with her plans to become an RN. It would not be a bad idea for you to at least talk to an attorney about your options. No matter what your plans for pleading, your daughter should not admit anything to the police. She has the right to remain silent and to have an attorney present during any discussions with the police or the state's attorney.
