Legal Question in Family Law in Maine

Transportation...

I have a court hearing on August 1, August 6, and August 20 of 2008. I live in Bangor, ME, but the court is in St. Johnsbury, VT. I don't have a car or a license. I would have to take the bus and find a place to stay for one night, since it's a seven hour trip, ten hours if I take the bus. Is there a way of being there through video phone or by speaker phone?

Re: Transportation...

Maine Courts, at least, will entertain written Motions, made in advance, for telephonic participation if the movant offers to call in, the hearing is not testimonial, and the other party has already been asked in advance and does not object. This is something in each Judge's discretion, and some will not allow it. I do not know about VT Courts, but if you can get a motion like this submitted it may be approved.
