Re: question on green card process

The green card filing is an offer of prospective employment--an intention of the employer to employ you in the job specified upon approval of the green card. So long as that intention remains, you do not need to be on the payroll of the petitioning employer during the process.

Moreover, provisions of AC21 allow you to change employers and maintain the viability of the green card process so long as certain conditions are met.

You should have a consultation with competent immigration counsel to disucss the foregoing in detail.
