Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

If a judge in a trial issues or grants an "absolute divorce", does this also mean that all the terms of the divorce such as division of property and finances, alimony, etc. have been resolved?

Generally, yes. If the judge has reserved rulings on any of these issues at the time he/she issues the judgment of divorce, there is a limited amount of time in which they can be ruled upon thereafter. With respect to alimony, if it was awarded to one of the parties, either party can later petition for a change in the award if sufficient circumstances exist to justify a change, such as a significant income change for either or both of the parties. Child support and custody are also subject to modification based upon changed circumstances after the divorce.
