Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Massachusetts

Mass Appeal -Drug Trafficking

Convicted/sentenced to 10 year mandatory minimum sentence for drug trafficking. What are the chances of winning appeals in these cases? Have been told very slim. Should I be looking for attorneys who specialize in appeals?

Re: Mass Appeal -Drug Trafficking

Are you in state or federal court?

What kind of drugs are involved? There are recent developments relating to the length of minimum mandatory sentences based on the total weight of prescription drugs, like oxycontin for example, which can be heavier or lighter without any relation to the amount of oxycontin actually contained within the tablets.

Yes, you should seek out an experienced criminal appellate lawyer on this, especiall;y given the severity of the sentence at stake.
