Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Massachusetts

A car that I traded in a couple years ago was in an accident and the title was still in my name. I am now being summons to court by the defendant. I have my paperwork showing I traded the car in and also the paperwork from the dealership showing who they sold it to. why am I still being held responisble. Thanks for any advice you can give me

You will need to demonstrate that you are not the legal owner of the automobile. The first thing you need to do is answer the complaint and include any defenses that you might have. Your chances of successfully arguing that you are not the correct owner of the automobile and avoiding civil liability are far greater if you are hire an attorney to represent you.
