General Lawyer question

Can a Lawyer represent her spouce in a Civil (or any actually) case in the state of MA?

Yes. As long as: 1)she is not a witness or 2) it is not a divorce.

Sure, but it is not the best idea.

If she loses a motion, it might cause dissension between them.

Also, she might be too subjectively involved to represent him well.

OR OR OR the opposite might be true: she might be too subjectively involved and might NOT represent him well.

If she gets a lawyer for him, she can play an advisory role. She might be able to educate him on the issues, which might save money for legal fees. She might serve as co-counsel and do some of the secondary work to save on legal fees . . . tasks like letter writing, filing, write interrogatories and send them to opponents, answer the interrogatories sent to him by the opponents, requests for production of documents, respond to opponents' requests for production of documents, requests for admissions, write drafts of affidavits, notices of depositions, courier-ing documents to the opponents, etc.

Lots and lots of things she can do to keep legal fees manageable.
