Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

Son 15 assaulted

My son is 15 and was in an altercation with another 15 year old. He was defending a female friend who was being harrassed by this 15 year old boy. My son stood up for this girl and the kid came after him pushed him down and fractured my son's wrist. I went to the police station and they told me they would go to this kids house this morning and that I can file assault and battery charges against this kid. What is the whole process and is it even worth my time to pursue it since he is only 15? What can they do? Could I get them to pay for medical expenses? What would the punishment be for this kid?

Re: Son 15 assaulted

Hi,

It depends on the circumstances, however, basically the 15 year old can be charged criminally and you can bring a civil complaint against him for pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost wages etc. If you would like further information please feel free to contact my office.
