Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Child support 4 children

I would like to know how much I should be getting for child support?

I have been married for 27 years and a homemaker for 15 yrs. I have a 19 year old (college), 15 yr. and 12yr twins. My husband and I have decided that we want joint custody. The twins are mostly living with me and my 15 yr with their father. Their father has the twins 2 nights a week the earliest at 8pm and they sleep over and he brings them to school. He also has everyother weekend. Friday at 8pm to Sunday 5pm. The childrens father is an executive at BOSE corporation that makes $280,000/year. He is trying to claim alimony $550.00 a week.

Please help!

If you do not have an attorney, get one now. The child support guidelines do not cover incomes above $100,000 year. There is a difference between alimony and childsupport.

Your situation is such I think only a complete review of your situtation with an attorney can help you.

I know of a case where the ex-husband has physical custody of one child and the ex-wife has custody of the other and he makes $220K per year and he pays $3,750 per month in child support as well as maintains medical coverage. Each case is different. He pays no alimony and they were married less than 10 years.

You need a good attorney to represent your interests. such as how much of his retirement should you get? the home? who pays what?

If you do not have experienced counsel, please get one ASAP.

This is not a simple answer, and should not be answered simply. I assume that you have an attorney already. If you do not, or you have an attorney in whom you lack confidence, you should obtain the assistance of counsel. This is NOT a case to litigate on your own, as Husband is CERTAINLY getting advice from a heavy hitter.
