Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts

On August 6th , 2007 i agreed to pay my arrears . I finished the payments on August 3rd 2009. seeking closure i spoke with the property manager Keya Alvarez, who reported i have a credit of $1,164.00. for the past year and a half i have denied myself the proper medication and experienced emotional distress due to this discrepancy. Shortly afterwards, management informs me that my rent is increased to $960.00 verses $917.00 monthly. Also the defendants changed my anniversary from July 1st 09 to May 1st 09. Can they do this without notifying me in advanced?

Rent can be increased by the landlord at the commencement of a new lease term. I'm not sure why having a credit on your account would cause you anxiety. Ask for a refund or ask that your balance be applied toward future rent payments. I'm not sure what you mean by anniversary. I think you would be well served in speaking with a lawyer, as you seem confused about the various rights and obligations of tenants and landlords.
