Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Massachusetts

atterneys responce to me

after recieving a vacate order from my landlords lawyer due to an ilegal apartment i wasnt aware that i was living in for a year and a half, i explained i have two childern, single parent i dont have the money or the means to move, he stated either i vacate asap or he will go to court, and then proceeded to tell me it will get ugly because there has been the cops to my house. isnt that assuming i am a certain type of person in which i am not. does he have the right to say that to me? the issue is that my landlady rented out to me ilegaly not the fact that the police were there last yesr due to my teenage son.

Re: atterneys responce to me

The landlord may not evict you. Only a court of appropriate jurisdiction can evict you from your home, and only after the landlord has followed a very specific process.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like the assistance of an attorney. While it may not be possible to keep you in your home indefinitely, an attorney may be able to keep you in your apartment long enough to find new housing, and can assert all available defenses and appropriate counterclaims on your behalf.
