Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Massachusetts

lawyer withdrew from case

My former lawyer wwithdrew from the case and the court awarded her to do so.. I have since retained another lawyer who requested that the file be transferred to her. Most of he file has changed lawyers except the most important the tax returns of ex husband, which were requested in discovery. These tax returns are pivotal in my case, modification of C/S, and contempt .. The former lawyer wants to charge me a copy fee for a voluminous amount of returns. My new lawyer made repeated atttempts to contact her in regards to this matter, I am in trial court in 12 days. Does this not prejiudice my case? BBO says she is entitled to charge to copy for her files?

Re: lawyer withdrew from case

Since you are already represented by counsel, I cannot give you any legal advice without your attorney's consent. Practical advice would be to discuss this matter with your attorney and decide on a course f action prior to trial.
