Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

Hospital refund

A hospital charged my flex card twice for the same bill. They admit I should be given a refund-- but want to withhold a bill that was just billed to me-- six weeks after they double charged my flex card. Now today I was given a different story that insurance owes them an amount from last April- which my insurance company says they have no bill on record. Can they continue to withhold my $811 overcharge.

Re: Hospital refund

No. Send the hospital a certified letter return receipt requested detailing and confirming what has happened and what has been stated. Put all further communications in writing. Explain that they had no right to charge you in the manner in which they did and that if they continue to hold your money, you will take the matter up formally.
