Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

pre-liminary hearing

What happens at a pre-liminary hearing? I have posted bond. Is there a possibility of going to jail at this hearing?

There is always a possibility of the court revoking your bond and sending you off to jail. That would not be a normal occurrence.

A preliminary exam is a very important proceeding which is a probable cause hearing. You should be certain that your lawyer is well prepared for this. I often hear of attorneys (and especially court appointed attorneys) that waive these preliminary exams. It is seldom the case that they should be waived. You want a well prepared and aggressive attorney fighting for you.
