Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Attorney dismissal during non-jury divorce trail

Our marriage lasted for little over 2 years and we don't have any children. During the temporary relief order, the judge ordered me to pay $450 a week to my wife, although I make $800 a week. I have a marital credit card debt of $30,000 and I have to make monthly credit payment of $1300.

First month, I did not pay the spousal support and I was sent to Jail for a few hours until I paid with my friend's credit card. Why did the Judge ordered more than half of my salary to my wife? I am going thru very hardship.

After 5 months with 7 court hearings to reduce the spousal support, I realized that my attorney is not going to defend me at the non-jury trail scheduled to be held within a week. At this stage, I don't want to change my attorney, because this case will drag on for months. I already changed the attorney once. I understand that the non-jury trail in the divorce case lasts for maximum 30 minutes and each side is given maximum 15 minutes. Is it true? My last question is can I dismiss my attorney during the non-jury trail or just before the final judgment rendered?

The question is, why are you consistently dissatisfied with your attorneys? Something is not adding up. Perhaps you are leaving out some pertinent facts? Bill Stern
