Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

How do I go about changing my daughter's last name? Her name is currently a hyphenation and I would like to drop the father's name off. He doesn't have anything to do with her and it would be easier for her in the future if she and I had the same name. I have full legal custody, do I need to have her father's permission?

Name changes are realatively easy. The Michigan Supreme Court web site has a link to "court forms". Select name change and print out the form (which also comes with instructions). Being that you have full legal custody, you don't have to ask permission from her father.
