Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

de novo hearing

I have a hearing scheduled for June 5th . I need to know if I am allowed to bring witnesses, if so do I get to question them? do I get to question the defendants witnesses? If I have evidence I would like the judge to consider do I have to send a copy to the defendants attorney and the judge prior to the hearing? I greatly appreciate any advice you have for me. I would love to have an attorney, but unfortunately I make too much money for help and not enough to obtain my own attorney. I also need to know if I can have witnesses do I need to send a list to his attorney? Thanks for your time.

Re: de novo hearing

What kind of hearing is this and what issue? You may wish to discuss with a lawyer prior to your hearing, or contact the judge's clerk to ask about the judge's "procedure" for these hearings. If there are witnesses called, then yes, of course, you are allowed to question them, but your questions must be related to the matter in dispute and otherwise relevant under the Michigan Court Rules.

You do not have to send any materials or a list of witnesses to the other side unless ordered by the Court.

If you need to retain a lawyer, please contact me immediately, as you may need an adjournment of your hearing, depending on the complexity of the issues, so you (or your lawyer) can be fully prepared.

Thanks.
