Using my name or a different name

I am trying to find a lost family member, but I am named after a family member that I don't want the person to track down in fear that they may do something ulterior. I was told before I could use my first and middle name, but my middle name is very uniquely spelled. What's the best way to use a name other than my own without completely changing it permanently?

if you hire a private investigator to search for someone, your name would not be used, thus solving your problem.
