Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Signature validity

Is the signature of a mentally handicapped person who cannot read better than the 1st grade level valid? The person is on SSI for the handicap. What if the document is read to them? The person is a pregnant 18 year-old who may have signed away her baby at birth to her boyfriends parents. She says she did not realize that's what she was doing. It was just a handwritten paper they wrote up. They claim they read it to her. They didn't even give her a copy of it.

Re: Signature validity

Whether the signature would be valid would be up to the judge, but it certainly seems there are strong reasons to challenge the validity. Good luck.
