Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

I have just been served a summons and complaint stating I am being sued for the amount due on a credit card acct. that I have defaulted on. The debt is mine and so I called the card company and made arrangements to make monthly payments on the account. What do I do now? Do I go to the court clerks office? and what to do when I get there? I asked the office handling my debt and they did not give me a satistactory answer. The total amount of my debt is $3,659.53 and I told them I can pay them $80 per month, and they accepted. Please help me, I do not know what to do next. I am currently not working and my husband is our only income. We were both unemployed at the same time and are just now catching up with our bills.

You need to get a settlement agreement and payment plan drafted up by the plaintiffs attorney, to be filed in the court instead of a judgment. This is key. Then the case gets dismissed unless you mess up the payment plan. Visit kliszlaw.com to discuss further. Tim Klisz
