Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

serving answer for summons & complaint

I am being sued by bank for home equity. I just finished my answer for summons and complaint. Do i have to hire a process server to deliver to plaintiff? Also does it have to be delivered to the lawyer represting the case or can it be given to another person in the firm?

An answer must be filed with the Court. A copy must be mailed or delivered to the lawyers office. Proof of service should be filed with the Court. If you need assistance with your pro per representation, contact me at www.kliszlaw.com Tim Klisz

Re: serving answer for summons & complaint

You can merely send the answer & proof of service both to the court and to the Plaintiff's lawyer by first class mail.

Depending on how much exposure you have, a competent attorney may be a good investment and could save money in the long run. Call my office if you need help.

Do i have to hire a process server to deliver to plaintiff?...... No, first class mail will do.

Also does it have to be delivered to the lawyer represting the case or can it be given to another person in the firm?...... Put the lawyer's name in the mailing address or hand deliver to the firm's office.

You are going to file this with the court as well ...Right?

You do know how to follow the court rules in making your answer...Right?
