Can a landlord be sued by tennants for black mold issues in units?

We have discovered that there is a very severe and very apparent black mold problem inside the 3 units that are in a home. All units are occupied and all tennants are very concerned. We are trying to figure the proper steps to having this looked into .. or what should be done. We are all interested in getting the money we have paid the landlord through our leases so far back. So of the residence have been ill (including myself) What can we do?

Generally speaking a landlord is liable for failure to divulge problems that he or she was aware of. If it can be show by a preponderance of evidence that the landlord was aware of this problem, and this black mold has caused suffering to you, they may be liable for damages. To more effectively answer this I would need more information.
