Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

Lanlord/tenant lock out

I have a tenant that i am evicting. I have gone thru the whole legal thing. She was to be out as of jan 30. I now have to have an order of writ (bailiff)completed. I was told the bailiff will call me in about 2 days to set up a time and date. In the meantime, i was told that because it is past the date the court gave, i could have the locks changed and have the tenant come by to get her things out either the day before the bailiffs come out or the day of. Is this information correct.

Re: Lanlord/tenant lock out

I am not aware of any position during which you may take any action to lock out the Tenant prior to the Court Officer posting the home with a writ of eviction. Once the Officer posts the door, the Tenant will have only 24 hours to vacate or may be set out along with their belongings under the watchful eye of the Court Officer. It may take more than a day to arrange for the Officer to return for the eviction, but do not change the locks until the Officer shows up that day.
